Prayer & Fasting

Gateway Tabernacle Church is a firm believer in Prayer
& Fasting. Gateway holds a Prayer Meeting Service
each Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. And sets that day aside
for our members to have a united day of prayer & fasting if
they wish to do so.
The Bible clearly states that some
things only come about by prayer and fasting.

Mark 9:20-29 tells the story of a father's son
who was suffering with an affliction since childhood
that no one could heal. The Father brings his son to Jesus
begging for compassion & help.
Jesus said unto him,
If thou canst believe,
all things are possible
to him that believeth (Mark 9:23)

24: And straightway the faither of the child cried
out and said with tears, Lord I believe;
help thou mine unbelief.

Verse 25-29
reads as follows:

When Jesus saw that the people came running together,
he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him,
Thou dumb
and deaf spirit, O charge thee, come out of him, and
enter no more into him.

26: And the spirit cried, and rent him sore,
and came out of him: and he was as one
dead; insomuch that many said He is dead. 27:
But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted
him up; and he arose. 28: And when he was
come into the house, his disciples asked him
privately, Why could not we cast him out?

29: And he said unto them, This kind can come
forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Lyrics To: "Sweet Hour Of Prayer"
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I’ll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
"Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!"
